CACFP

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)was created in 1968 in response to the need to provide good nutrition to the children of working parents.  Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program helps daycare providers in homes or centers improve health and eating habits of the millions of school age children in our country by offsetting their expenses for food.  Daycare providers receive a monthly reimbursement check for the meals and snacks served that meet basic nutritional requirements.

Who can participate?

All registered family and licensed day care homes, and day care centers that care for at least one child are eligible to participate and can claim meals served to the children in care.  A pre-approval visit to each daycare that wishes to participate in the program will be made to discuss benefits and requirements.  Nutrition and Civil Rights training will be provided as well as follow up visits throughout the year.
